Google parent company Alphabet has introduced a product in its AI data center chip family called Trillium, which is almost five times faster than its previous version. Chips coupled with software
closely tied to Google's tensor processing units (TPUs) have enabled the company to capture a significant share of the market.
Nvidia dominates approximately 80% of the AI data center chip market, with the vast majority of the remaining 20% comprised of various versions of Google's TPUs.
Alphabet stated that the new chip will be available to cloud customers in late 2024.
